fixing the grinder [Dec. 6th, 2010|10:29 pm]
Doug Ayen
After searching around and asking for advice, I've found three companies that resurface contact wheels. I've requested a quote for resurfacing the wheel, and got one for $140 and 3 weeks processing, and one for $75 and 2 weeks processing time. I'm going to give it until tomorrow and then I'll make my decision.

Part of the reason for waiting is that the nut holding the wheel on is damn hard to get off. After trying to get it off with a couple of wrenches and some skinned knuckles, I applied Kroil liberally and am letting that sink in until I get home from work tomorrow.

In giddy anticipation of grinding, I even went over to trugrit and ordered a bunch of belts, including a few that are designed for titanium grinding.

Progress? Well, at least it's movement.
