Renovations update [May. 10th, 2010|05:16 pm]
Doug Ayen
The painters started today (I decided on Alabaster for the paint color.) Still waiting on the countertop folx to decide when they're going to be ready -- I pushed them today for a date, and all they were willing to commit to was "late this week." Sigh. Back before the old cabinets were ripped out I made a bunch of microwave-ready food for the freezer (soup, stew, burritos, and my version of chicken tikka masala), but I'm getting tired of reheating stuff and eating out. If I had known it would be four freaking weeks, I'd have held off on the kitchen until we were closer to delivery.

In other news, we had a hard frost last night -- unseasonal here in Virginia this late in the spring. I'd gotten some plants in the garden a couple of weekends ago, but a quick check this morning shows I may have to start over (I planted tomatoes, cukes, and some hot peppers.) So it goes.

It was weird, I woke up this morning and it was 35 degrees here in Relay at about 6am. Nuts. Glad I didn't plant tomatoes, I think I'll wait till June.

Even had the fireplace insert going last night. Lot of wood to burn...
