I was feeling a bit hungry after helping out a friend on Tuesday evening, so I stopped by the supermarket and got supplies for a yummy dinner.|
1 lb mushrooms (standard button works fine) sliced
2 tbs butter
1 tbs flour
1 dash worchestershire sauce
1 cup milk
1 egg yolk.
salt & pepper to taste
Sautee mushrooms in butter for 20 minutes. Add flour and sautee for another 10 minutes.
Add in the milk, worchestershire sauce, salt & pepper and simmer for 10 minutes. Take off heat, temper an egg yolk and stir in until sauce comes together. Taste and adjust seasonings (I added in cayenne pepper and called it done.)
Serve with crepes, on noodles, or (as I did) over english muffins (I was too lazy to make crepes).
