Blacksmithing Site Of The Day: Keenjunk.com [Oct. 7th, 2004|05:19 pm]
Doug Ayen
Another general-purpose blacksmithing site, Keenjunk is the home to a decent forum for blacksmiths to talk at one another, brag about accomplishments, and ask the ever popular question, "why didn't this work?"

Other sections of the website include a "Scrapbin" with a listing of various stuff for sale, and the occasional request for more blacksmithing tools. I've actually gotten a couple of things off this listing, including the power hammer. Lots of anvils, machinery, and tools usually listed.

The Techniques section has some good "how to" instructions on the basics, plus some ideas for tooling. Check out the "Big Dog Catalog" for the FAQ on blacksmithing topics from forges to flux, books to blademaking, tools, anvils, coal, iron, steel, flux, and general blacksmithing. http://www.keenjunk.com/bdc/bgdogcat.htm

Don't miss the sketchbook, a good way to waste some time looking at the work and ideas of others.
