pock-ish things [Apr. 17th, 2010|07:34 pm]
Doug Ayen
Just got home from the BGOP Spring Fling, picked up a couple of tongs and a new studly wire brush, but the real haul was in the "iron in the hat" offerings.

I had donated a knife (no pics, sorry, can't find my camera in the house-reorganization due to the remodelling) which did pretty well -- it looked like about 40 people had tossed in tickets; I had put tickets in on a number of things, and won a set of two tongs, an old oxygen tank, some farriers rasps, and some dead fire extinguishers. Amonium phosphate dry chemical in the fire extinguishers -- I'll have to look up how to dispose of that safely, though acording to wikipedia it's also a component of fertilizer. Might just be able to dilute and spread on the back acreage.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it all, but bells, or maybe turning that O2 tank into a heat treating tank come to mind.

Came down with something cold-like on Friday; slept all day, got up for a few hours then crashed early; slept in today, made it over to the 'fling, but had to go home an nap after lunch. Went back for dinner, but when they dragged out the slide projector and I started nodding off, I realized it was time to go home.

Kitchen is still unusable, but that should be fixed this week; the ugly fake-panelling in the sitting room is coming off with minimal damage to the walls, which is good; flooring is down in half the room as well. I miss having a kitchen.
